In the late 90’s I built a house in Junction Hill where I showcased the timbers. The interior fit out was predominately Red Cedar with 10 other specialty species including Crows Ash flooring, Coachwood paneling and even the doors and windows were Rosewood. The house was a testimony to the beauty of these woods and was always a talking point among visitors.
From time to time, other furniture makers would buy timber off me and the supply side of Cedarworks began to grow. Customers from far and wide would order timber, with a particular focus on Australian Red Cedar. My passion for these rare and beautiful timbers grew. I was part of the whole journey from salvaging the logs, the cutting to specific sizes, the stacking and dying (often for several years), then machining and making items, or sending them off to a customer. I was surrounded by the most beautiful timbers in the world.
